Missouri State Fairgrounds – COVID-19
The Missouri State Fairgrounds is cautiously moving forward with hosting some events beginning in June. The Fairgrounds continues to encourage social distancing, proper hand hygiene, and staying home if sick. Additional information related to Missouri’s COVID-19 response can be found by visiting the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website or by calling their 24-hour hotline at (877) 435-8411.
On Monday, April 27, 2020, Governor Mike Parson announced the first phase of the “Show Me Strong Recovery” Plan outlining how Missouri will gradually begin to reopen economic and social activity on Monday, May 4, 2020. This framework allows the state to work through a gradual reopening but also allows for flexibility based on changing situations.
Locally in Pettis County, COVID-19 numbers continue to increase daily putting the Missouri State Fairgrounds in a different situation than many cities and counties across Missouri. We have been working closely with our city, county, and state leaders to make decisions regarding our off-season events.
Due to the recommended precautions outlined in Phase 1 of the Recovery Plan such as social distancing, infection precaution measures, and proper hygiene protocols, the number and growth of COVID-19 cases in Pettis County, and the nature of the events hosted on the Missouri State Fairgrounds, we have made the difficult decision to extend our event cancellations through May 31, 2020.
We will continue to do our best to work with our valued event promoters to reschedule, refund, and/or cancel these events.
Additionally, the Mathewson Exhibition Center will remain closed for walking during this time. Our public campgrounds will remain closed due to facility upgrade construction generously funded by our state legislature. The Missouri State Fair Administration Office will remain staffed during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
These are certainly unprecedented and unpredictable times. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through these challenging times together.
In the interest of public health related to COVID-19 concerns, all events scheduled to be held on the Missouri State Fairgrounds between now and May 10, 2020 have been canceled. These actions are in accordance with the latest guidance from the CDC and are necessary to protect the health of your family, friends and neighbors. Like many organizations and individuals, we are monitoring the situation and assessing any new impacts and updates on a daily basis.
Additionally, the Mathewson Exhibition Center will be
closed for walking until further notice.
The Missouri State Fair Administration Offices will remain open during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please note: these closure dates may be shortened or prolonged as more information and guidelines are released.
